VMware Horizon Clients for Windows, Mac, iOS, Linux, and Android allow faculty, staff, and approved students to connect to their VMware Horizon virtual desktop or lab from their device of choice, giving them on-the-go access from any location.

For mobile devices, download and install the VMware Horizon Client in the iOS or Android app stores. This is a free download.

The Horizon Client is also available for Windows, Mac, and Linux: Client Download Link

*You must have at least version 5.0 of the Horizon Client. If you are unsure what version you have, please download and install the latest version from the link above.

How to use the Client

  • Once you have installed the client and opened the software it will ask for a connection server.
    • Type racerdesk.murraystate.edu
  • When connecting, a web browser will open and ask you to provide your Murray State email address, Murray State password, and to provide Duo two-factor authentication. On the "Stay Signed In?" page, choose Yes to remember this computer. If you are on a public computer, make sure to choose No.
  • Log in with your Murray State credentials and select your Desktop Pool.
  • If you need assistance or do not know which desktop pool to connect to, please call the Service Desk at 270-809-2346 or email us at msu.servicedesk@murraystate.edu.

Tips for using the Horizon Client

  • By default, the virtual desktop starts in All Monitors mode. You can also start the virtual desktop session in a window. Before selecting the pool you want to connect to, right-click on the pool icon and select "Display." Then, in the sub-menu, choose a different window size to use.

  • If your virtual machine locks (asking you to press CTRL + ALT + DELETE), you should use the "Send CTRL-ALT-DELETE" button in the title bar of the Horizon window. If you are in Fullscreen mode, the button will be in the connection bar at the very top of the screen.
