Access the MSUstudent Wireless Network

Summary

Instructions for connecting to the MSUstudent wireless network.

Body

Students using wireless devices will need to connect to the MSUstudent wireless network.

For further assistance, please contact the Murray State University Service Desk at 270-809-2346.

**If you have recent Consolidated your passwords in myGate, you may need to 'Forget the Network' in order to enter your new password.

 

Connecting an iOS device to MSUstudent

Step 1: Click the Settings icon on your iOS home screen to open the iPhone settings menu. From the settings menu, select Wi‐Fi.

Step 2: Make sure the Wi‐Fi is toggled on at the top of the page, then select MSUstudent from the available networks list.

Step 3: Enter your username and network password and click Join.

Step 4: When prompted with the Certificate screen, click Trust

 

Connecting an Android device to MSUstudent

Step 1: Go to system settings and ensure that your wireless is turned ON.  Then click where is says Wi-Fi 

Step 2: Click MSUstudent

Step 3: Enter your username in the identity field and your network password and click Connect. Leave Anonymous identity blank. The EAP method should be set to PEAP, the CA Certificate should have the Domain setting as murraystate.edu and Phase 2 authentication should be set to MSCHAPV2.

 

Connecting a Windows 8 or Windows 10 device to MSUstudent

Step 1: Click the wireless icon in the system tray (lower right corner of screen). 

Step 2: Click MSUstudent then click Connect. 

Step 3: Click Connect.

Step 4: Enter your username and Network password and click OK.

Step 5: Click Connect.

 

Connecting a Windows 7 device to MSUstudent

Step 1: Click the wireless icon  in the system tray (lower right corner of screen).

Step 2: Click MSUstudent, then click Connect.

Step 3: Ignore the Security Alert and click Connect.

Step 4: Enter your username and Network password and click OK.

Step 5: Ignore the Security Alert and click Connect again. 

 

Connecting a Mac device to MSUstudent

Step 1: Click on the Wireless icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen and select MSUstudent.

Step 2: Enter your username and network password and click Join.

Step 3: If prompted with a Certificate box, click Continue (you may not be prompted with this screen).

 

Connecting a ChromeOS device to MSUstudent

Step 1: Click on the wifi icon in the bottom right corner of your screen. When the menu opens, click wifi icon. 

Step 2: Select MSUstudent.

Step 3: Enter your username in the identity field and your network password and click Connect. Leave Anonymous identity blank. The EAP method should be set to PEAP, the CA Certificate should be set to Do not check and Phase 2 authentication should be set to MSCHAPV2.

Forget the Network on an iOS Device

Step 1: Click the Settings icon on your iOS home screen to open the iPhone settings menu. From the settings menu, select Wi‐Fi.

Step 2: Make sure the Wi‐Fi is toggled on at the top of the page, then tap the Information symbol (lowercase i in a circle) next to MSUstudent from the available networks list.

Step 3: Click 'Forget This Network'.

 

Forget the Network on an Android Device

Step 1: Go to system settings and ensure that your wireless is turned ON.  Then click where is says Wi-Fi 

Step 2: Click on the three dots in the upper right-hand corner and select Advanced.

Step 3: Next, choose Manage networks.

Step 4: Click Delete.

Forget the Network on a Windows 8 or Windows 10 Device

Step 1: Click the wireless icon in the system tray (lower right corner of screen). 

Step 2: Right-click MSUstudent, then select 'Forget'.

 

Forget the Network on a Mac

Step 1: Click on the Wireless icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

Step 2: Click Open Network Preferences.

Step 3: On the Network Preferences menu, click Advanced

Step 4: Next, ensure MSUstudent is highlighted, then click the minus symbol (-).

 

Forget the Network on a Chromebook

Step 1: At the bottom right, select the time.

Step 2: Select Settings .

Step 3: In the "Network" section, select Wi-Fi.

Step 4: Select Known networks.

Step 5: Find the MSUstudent, then select More  and then Forget.
