MSU Course General Policies/Procedures

  • Courses are created automatically based on the University Master Schedule of Course.
  • Instructors can request a TA or additional instructor be added to their course by submitting the service request Add a TA, GA, or Instructor to a Course in Canvas
  • Instructors can request multiple courses be merged into one course shell by submitting the service request Cross-list (Combine) Courses on Canvas.  
    NOTE: this must done before grades are posted in the courses.
  • Instructors are responsible for copying content semester to semester and for exporting/importing content as well as course gradebooks.
  • Students are enrolled into courses based on their schedules. See Student Canvas FAQs.
  • Administrators reserve the right to access courses for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Development courses may be requested. Courses for user groups, such as organizations, residential colleges, or committees can be requested and kept on the system but require an updated roster submitted each year. See the service request Request a Development, Training, or User Group Course in Canvas.
