myGate Password Policy Changes

January 2017 Changes

On Monday, January 30th, Murray State Information Systems will begin implementing new password expiration rules for myGate, requiring all myGate passwords to be changed. All faculty, staff, and students must change their myGate password when prompted to do so upon logging in.

This change will be rolling out over the next four weeks. As this change is applied to your myGate account, you will see a warning message when you log in to myGate, Canvas, or any other campus system that authenticates with myGate. This message will prompt you to change your myGate password immediately.

Expiration Rules

myGate passwords will expire every 120 days, just as network account passwords currently do. As your myGate password expiration nears, you will receive a message when you log in to myGate reminding you to change your password. If you do not change it in the required timeframe, your myGate account will be locked.

Visit RacerNet for additional information about this change. If you have difficulty changing your myGate password or if you can not log into your myGate account, please call the IS Service Desk at (270) 809-2346.

These changes are being implemented in keeping with accepted information security practices. In light of the recent phishing emails reported to campus, these changes are also timely. If you believe you have responded to a phishing email, or have been the victim of identity theft, you should closely monitor your personal information.
