2019 Data Center Relocation

Information Systems is relocating MSU's existing computer infrastructure from its current location to a newly renovated data center. Because the current data center is 30 years old and information technology needs have changed so much during that time, a complete renovation is required. Moving a complete infrastructure like Murray State’s requires significant planning due to the many technical aspects, staff, and resources needed for such a change.

Information Systems has developed a relocation plan to move all physical infrastructure and to reduce the amount of downtime as much as possible. Although the relocation will take several weeks, the biggest impact to users will occur on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 when the networking hardware is moved. This date was chosen as all offices are closed and classes are dismissed for Spring Break.

On Wednesday, March 20, 2019, from 4:00 AM to 8:00 PM, all network services to and from campus will be unavailable or subject to disruption. This includes (but is not limited to) access to:

Announcements will be posted to RacerNet, in the Racer Nation Information weekly newsletter, RacerMail email, the IS Facebook page, the Service Desk Twitter feed, racerVision digital signage, and the Service Catalog.

Questions may be sent to the Service Desk at msu.servicedesk@murraystate.edu.
