Access RacerMail with an Android Device

This article describes several ways you can access your RacerMail on your Android device.

Method 1: Using the Mobile Interface
To use RacerMail's mobile web interface, simply navigate to http://racermail.murraystate.edu using your device's browser.

Method 2: Accessing RacerMail using Android's Email App

To configure the 'Email' app on an Android device to access your RacerMail email, follow the steps below:

1. Enable IMAP in RacerMail.  To do this, log in to RacerMail and click Settings, then click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.  Under IMAP Access, select Enable IMAP, then click the Save Changes button.
2. On your phone, press < Home >, then open the Email application.
3. On the 'Your accounts' page, select Next to get started with setup.
4. Enter your full Murray State email address and password, then select Next. (example: jdoe2@murraystate.edu)
5. Select IMAP account and then select Next.
   • On the 'Incoming server settings' page, some fields may be pre-populated. Make sure to change the following:
6. For 'Username,' enter your full Murray State email address. (example: jdoe2@murraystate.edu)
7. For 'IMAP server,' enter 'imap.gmail.com'
8. For 'Port,' enter '993'
9. For 'Security type,' select 'SSL (always accept all certificates)''
10. Select Next.
    • On the 'Outgoing server settings' page, some fields may be pre-populated. Make sure to change the following:
11. For 'SMTP server' enter 'smtp.gmail.com'
12. For 'Port,' enter '465'
13. For 'Security type,' select 'SSL (always accept all certificates)''
14. Select Next and continue through the setup options.

You can verify your settings from the Inbox view by tapping < Menu > , then Account settings.

Incoming settings
IMAP server: imap.gmail.com
Port: 993
Security type: SSL (always)

Outgoing settings
SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 465
Security type: SSL (always)

Method 3: Using the Gmail App

1. Dowload the Gmail app to your device by searching "Gmail" in the Google Play Store.
2. Open the Gmail app.
3. Tap Sign In.
4. Tap Add Account. 
5. Select Google.
6. Enter your full Murray State email address (jdoe2@murraystate.edu).
7. Tap Next.
8. Enter your Password.
9. Tap Next.
