racerVision Acceptable Use Policy

Signature on a User Account Form or Add Player Form denotes that the applicant has read and understands the guidelines available and also denotes acceptance of this Acceptable Use document.

The Murray State University racerVision system is a network-based visual display server that provides departments and offices with an effective, efficient means of communicating with the campus population via electronic message display.

These usage guidelines supplement the existing Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy with regards to racerVision.  Click here to view Murray State’s Technology Acceptable Use Policy.

The individual whose signature appears on the request form to add a channel player to the racerVision system assumes responsibility for content displayed in the associated playlists and is considered the player owner.  The username and password for access to the player control screen will be issued to the owner and/or designee(s) listed on the User Account Form. Password changes will be done only at the request of the owner or designee listed on the User Account Form.

Playlist content will not be approved at the system administrator level.  Each department or office is encouraged to create their own guidelines and approval systems in addition to this usage policy.  All playlist content should support the university’s overall mission and follow Governing Principles found in Section I of Murray State’s Technology Acceptable Use Policy

General maintenance of channel players with regard to antivirus, antispyware and operating system updates is the responsibility of the channel player owner.  AxisTV software updates will be performed remotely by the system administrators.  System administrators reserve the right to:

  • Override playlists in the event of a campus emergency for notification purposes and at any time when content is considered offensive or outside of the university mission and purpose.
  • Disable or delete user accounts at the request of the channel player owner or when it appears a password has been compromised.
  • Disconnect a channel player from the system that is malfunctioning or lacking proper maintenance.
  • Temporarily disable a player not following the Acceptable Use Policies noted above.
