Murray State Maintenance Windows
MSU Maintenance Windows are scheduled for any Sunday morning between 6:00 am and 2:00 pm.
A maintenance window is a timeframe that is reserved in advance for the maintenance and other upkeep of university technology systems. All hardware and software requires maintenance of some sort. This may include installing new hardware, replacing old or defective hardware, or installing patches or upgrades to hardware or software. In most circumstances these routine maintenance activities can be scheduled in advance. Occasionally an emergency will require an unplanned system outage. Systems that may be affected by a system outage could include any campus system. However, the most frequently updated systems include the myGate (Banner) system and its many components or the university network system.
Maintenance windows are very important to maintain an updated infrastructure and to help avoid unplanned outages.
We will not necessarily have an outage of any university system during our maintenance windows - but if routine activities are required, every effort will be made to fit it into that time frame. Occasionally access to vendor personnel or longer outages may cause another time to be identified. However, under normal circumstances, do not plan on 100% availability during these published maintenance hours.
