What is Respondus?
Respondus 4 is a Windows-based authoring tool that makes it easy to create and manage exams for Canvas. Respondus has provided introductory videos for instructors.
Installing or Upgrading Respondus
Installing Respondus
The password and download file for the . To access this file, you will be prompted for your Murray State credentials to access this file. During installation, you will be prompted for the following information:
- Access the Respondus 4 installation file and installation password in the Respondus 4 Respondus Test-Maker 4 Installation article. You will be required to login with your MSU credentials if you have not already done so.
- Institution Name: Murray State University
- Local Support Contact: tcole5@murraystate.edu
NOTE: You may be prompted to close other programs. When prompted for the CMS, choose "Instructure Canvas."
Our license DOES permit you to install a copy of the Respondus software on a home computer. However, please note that you are not permitted to provide the Respondus software or the password information to anyone who is not affiliated with Murray State University. Such an action is a violation of our licensing agreement with Respondus and is also illegal.
Upgrading Respondus
- Start Respondus
- Select Help from the menu bar
- Click Check for Update
- Click Get Update
Upon exiting the Respondus software, the update will automatically be applied.
Each year a licensing institution is provided with a new "activation password" that can be used to reactivate Respondus. For copies of Respondus that were previously installed, users can update their activation password as follows:
- Prior to August 1, start the application and select File > Update License (if "Update License" isn't shown, first upgrade to the latest version).
- After August 1, upon startup, the software will automatically prompt you for the new password. The password can be found in the Respondus Test-Maker 4 Installation article. You will be required to login with your MSU credentials if you have not already done so.
