Student Canvas FAQs

How do I get a Canvas account?

  • Students will automatically have an account created for them. 
  • Students will be loaded into Canvas courses approximately one-two weeks before each semester begins.  
  • Students should be able to log in and access their Canvas courses the first week of the semester, once your instructor(s) make the course(s) available.
  • An instructor must "Publish" a course before a student will see it listed under Courses. Until at least one course is available to you, the top navigation bar shows as Home. 

Where do I go if I need help with Canvas?

If you need assistance with Canvas, call the Service Desk at 270-809-2346, or email msu.canvas@murraystate.edu.

  • To report errors, please click on the Help on the right-hand navigation bar and choose to Report a Problem.
  • If you have questions about your Canvas course content, contact your instructor.
  • Canvas guides and online video tutorials are available for instructors and students at http://guides.instructure.com.

What if I don't know how to use Canvas?
