Send an Email as Plain Text

In some cases, it may be important or necessary to send an email as plain text. Plain text leaves out all formatting (colors, bold, center, etc) as well as hyperlinked text (URLs, email addresses, etc.) This is especially helpful when sending a listserv command for updating a listserv

In the Google email interface in the "New Message" window, click the "More options" three-dot icon

click on the three-dot more options icon in the lower right corner of the new message window.

 

In the new menu, select "Plain text mode."

        

 

While you are in plain text mode, a check mark will appear next to that option. Please remember that you will continue to use plain text mode until you uncheck that option.
