Verified Duo Push (Number Matching) for Duo 2FA

In an effort to further protect the accounts and identities of the campus community, Murray State University's Information Systems has enabled Verified Duo Push (also called number matching) for your account.  Rather than the standard "Accept" or "Deny" push sent to your mobile device, you will now enter a 3-digit code on your Duo Mobile app.

After successfully entering your credentials on an MSU website or application, you will be presented with the following screen.

On the mobile device you already have registered with Duo, you should see the following prompt. If you don't see the prompt, you may not have notifications enabled for Duo Mobile. You can also open the Duo Mobile app.

Tap on the prompt, or open Duo Mobile. On the next screen, you should see the prompt waiting for 3-digit code. Enter that, then click Verify.

If you weren't expecting this prompt (you aren't currently trying to log into an MSU website or application), please tap the "I'm not logging in" text to report a fraudulent push

Duo 2FA Tips, Assistance, and Support

Tips and Troubleshooting

  • Tired of having to authenticate with Duo on your personal and frequently-used devices? When authenticating, make sure you click the Yes, this is my device. Duo will remember you on that browser on that device for 30 days. If you access your MSU account on another browser or another device, you will be prompted again.

  • Duo relies on browser cookies to authenticate properly and to remember your device. If you have cookies disabled or blocked, you may not be able to authenticate into your MSU account, or your browser won't remember your device for 30 days.
  • Missing Duo pushes?
    • If you get a new phone but have the same phone number, you can follow the instructions in our Reactivate Duo Mobile article.
    • If you aren't receiving pushes to your mobile device and you are using the same device you always have, please make sure your notification settings are still enabled so that you see the prompts. You may have to open the Duo Mobile app to see the prompt.
