Update Duo Mobile to the Latest Version

To ensure the security of your Murray State University accounts and maintain access to campus systems (such as myGate, Canvas, and RacerMail), it is critical to keep your Duo Mobile app updated.

Important Deadline: Starting February 2, 2026, Duo Mobile versions earlier than 4.85.0 will no longer be supported. If your app is not updated by this date, you will be unable to receive Duo Push requests or complete mobile-based verification, and will be unable to access Murray State University systems.

Check Your Current Duo Version

  1. Open the Duo Mobile app on your device.
  2. Tap the three horizontal lines (hamburger menu) in the top-left corner.
  3. Look at the bottom of the menu pane. The version number will be listed there (e.g., Version 4.102.0).
    • NOTE: Version numbers are sequential. 4.102.0 is newer than 4.85.0.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my phone is too old to update?

If your device cannot run the minimum iOS or Android operating systems, you will eventually lose the ability to use the Duo Mobile app. You may need to:

  • Use a different supported smartphone or tablet.
  • Switch to receiving SMS one-time passcodes.
  • Request a Hardware Token from the MSU Service Desk.
  • Use Backup Passcodes (available through the myGate 2FA management page).

Should I uninstall the app to update it?

No. Do not uninstall the app. Uninstalling will remove your Murray State account and require you to go through a reactivation process. Simply use the "Update" button in your app store.
