Microsoft Office 365

About Microsoft Office 365

Does MSU provide Microsoft Office to students and teachers?
Yes! Murray State students and teachers are eligible for Microsoft Office 365 Education!

What is Microsoft 365?
Microsoft 365 is a fully functional version of Microsoft Office accessible through the Cloud/Internet. This means that in addition to installing Microsoft applications on your computer, you can also use certain Microsoft programs online, similar to Google Drive.

For additional assistance with Microsoft 365 and Macs, please see our Activating Microsoft 365 on a Mac article.

Additional Microsoft 365 Support

Using Microsoft 365 from another University or the App Store?

If you came to Murray State with Microsoft 365 already installed on your computer, you will likely need to uninstall that installation first. Restart your computer, and then go through the above steps to download, install, and activate.

You don't receive a verification code
First verify that you are using the correct MSU email address. If you need help figuring out your email address, or if you are having trouble logging in to that email address, please click here to visit our knowledge base page on creating or changing your Murray State password.

If you have verified that you are using the correct address you may need to log back into the Microsoft system (following the instructions below) and ask to have the link re-sent to your email address. If you are unable to find this link you should contact Microsoft Support

You can't get the cloud version to work
First try clearing your browser cache and cookies. If you are unsure how to do this, please click here to visit our knowledge base page on clearing a browser's cache and cookie files. If that doesn’t work you should contact Microsoft Support.

Receiving an "Account Error" error message

365 error

If you see the above error message stating "Account Error. Sorry, we can't get to your account right now. To fix this, please sign in again.", you can ignore the error message. Above that yellow error message, you should already see your name, your @murraystate.edu email address, and the "Sign out" option. This is a common error and won't affect your ability to use or save any work in Office 365.
