Pop-up Blockers in Web Browsers

To turn off/on Pop-up Blockers in Web Browsers, follow these instructions:

Internet Explorer 11

  1. Click Tools (Gear icon).
  2. Click Internet Options
  3. On the Privacy tab, select or clear the Turn on Pop-up Blocker check box
  4. Click OK

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click the three-dot More Actions button on the top right
  2. Click Settings.
  3.  Select the Privacy & Security tab.
  4. Slide the Pop Ups to the off or on position.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button in Mac OS X or Menu (3 lines) in Windows 
  2. Click Options
  3. Select the Privacy & security tab
  4. Under the Permissions heading, uncheck Block pop-up windows to disable the pop-up blocker, or check Block pop-up windows to enable the pop-up blocker. 
  5. You may choose to add murraystate.edu to the Exceptions section to allow all pop-ups from any murraystate.edu website, including Canvas.

Google Chrome

  1. Click the Menu icon at the top right of the Chrome window (3 dots)
  2. Select Settings (Preferences on Macs and Linux, Settings on a Chromebook)
  3. Scroll down and click Advanced
  4. Under the Privacy & Security heading, click Site settings.
  5. In the "Pop-ups" section, toggle Allowed on or off. Customize permissions for specific websites by clicking Manage exceptions.

Safari

  1. Under Safari, select Preferences
  2. Click on "Security" at the top of the window.
  3. Check the box Block pop up windows to enable this feature. Uncheck it to disable it. 

Opera

  1. Click the Menu icon at the top right of the window (3 lines)
  2. Scroll down and click Go to browser settings
  3. Click the Advanced drop down tab. 
  4. Under the Privacy & Security heading, click Site settings.
  5. In the "Pop-ups" section, toggle Allowed on or off. Customize permissions for specific websites by clicking Manage exceptions.
